Matsutake Festival

Overview

The Matsutake Festival in Bhutan is a unique cultural celebration that honors the harvest of Matsutake mushrooms (often referred to as “pine mushrooms”), a rare and highly prized delicacy in Bhutanese cuisine. This festival, held annually, takes place in the central region of Bhutan, particularly in areas like Bumthang, which is known for its abundance of these mushrooms in the wild forests surrounding the region.
